  1. I keep reading this word when ever somebody is writing about using this or that software like Toast in Macs when burning DVDs.

    disk image means a disk [cd/dvd] that you save to your HD in the form of an image [data .img, .dmg, .iso, .bin, .toast - am i missing other extensions?]

    this can then be "mounted" like a cd but there is no cd/dvd in the drive, its actually on your harddrive

    does that make since?

    It's basically a copy of a disc in file form on your Hard Drive
