I've got my ADVC100 hooked up, able to capture AVI 2 with either Scenalyzer Live or WinDV and "think" that I need to edit out commercials, etc. before encoding to MPG. It seems that VirtualDub is one of the major tools of choice for this, but I can't get the file to open in VirtualDub. I get the following error message:

"Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'dvsd' (unkown)

VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable. "

I've tried downloading and installing the Canopus DV codec from the Canopus site, but that seems to have no effect.

Any help will be appreciated. Have been digesting the info here for weeks before getting hardware, but still seem to be having problems getting everything going. I'm very familiar with doing digital tranfers of audio files from DAT, editing those files and creating CDs, but for some reason DVDs are throwing me a bit at the moment.

Thanks VERY much for the quick reply. I'm sure I'll have more questions later, but this will get me started.
