I've download a dvdr movie and i played the sample file ok, i can play the files indiviually however when i extract the first file using winrar it extracts as an image file and ends up as a photo shop image file and i can't do anything with it. is the original file no good or is there some way to get the file to extract differently so that i can burn it to dvd.

  3. I doubt its the kind of image you think it is. Is likely an actual image of the DVD. Install DaemonTools (a virtual drive) and mount the image in that to see exactly what you've got before buring.

I tried daemon tools, had a bit of a job opening it up after download but managed in the end. somehow i managed to get it to open up and it gave me the vob files. i used shrink to encode it and burn it as it was already authored and alls well with the world. the only thing that did happen was that it created another dvd drive in the name of the movie which i don't know how to get rid of. cheers

  5. Daemon creates a virtual drive. the computer basically sees it as another DVD drive. when you mount the image file to it your computer sees it as an actual DVD. just click on the D-Tools icon in the system tray and select unmount all drives to release the image (like ejecting an actual disc) then right click the icon go to virtual cd/dvd-rom drive and select nuber of devices. set it to disable and the virtual drive disappears. also go to the options part and uncheck everything. this will prevent it from loading automatically on start up so you can just load Daemon when you need it.
