  1. Am using avi2mpg2 to mux mp2 audio and mpv video both sampled for svcd have now got them to mux but everything is way out of sync, can anyone tell me where the problem lies, is it with either the video or audio files and their creation or are sync problems always down to the muxing.

    Thanks

  2. I have noticed a message presented by avi2mpg2 during muxing which says Note: Mux rate may be too low for data rate, watch for PTS/DTS underflows, could this be the cause of my sync problem and if so where and how do I correct it?

    Thanks

Yes this could possibly be the problem. This is caused by having bitrate peaks above the svcd standard. You can ensure that you dont get underflows by setting the force mux rate to 0. This lets the encoder pick the appropriate value, but be warned it results in a slightly higher filesize. If your audio and video streams do not go outside of the standards then just ignore the underflows, it is unlikely that they are the source of your sync problem.

Now have you tried burning the svcd and playing it on a standalone dvd player? Remeber your pc and your dvd player use different methods of maintaing sync.

Assuming you are playing this svcd on your dvd player, here is what you need to experiment with. First try setting the forced mux rate to 0 and see if it works. If not then use avi2mpg2's default mux rate again but this time uncheck add Svcd scan offsets and uncheck allign sequence headers. If its still out of sync then change the mux rate to 0 again. One of these settings should work, if not there might be an error in your authoring/encoding process.
