  1. I have two mpg movie files that play on my computer but I want to watch them on my 50in TV. How do I convert them to vob files so that I can watch them on my DVD recorder? I can't find the guide for converting mpeg to vob.

In an unrelated questions, I burned vob files to dvd-rw. The dvd plays on my computers dvd player, but when I play it on my dvd recorder hooked up to my large screen tv, I get only sound and no picture. Why would the dvd-rw work fine on the computer but not on another player? thanks for your help.

Converting mpegs to vobs is part of the authoring process. This creates the dvd structure and the ifo, bup and vobs that go into it. I suggest TMPGEnc DVD Author (TDA) as it is newbie friendly, easy to learn and will also burn your DVD. Look it up in the green "author" section over there <-<-<-. TDA will also accept vobs, use the "add dvd video" button. If you didn't author your vobs then that could be the problem.

DVD MPEG-2 files are not just burned to VOBs. The complete authoring process makes IFOs, and BUPs as well. You will need a program like IfoEdit or ReJig to (freeware) to create all the files needed.

    Try this guide.

Also Video Studio can create a DVD from most video formats, there is a trial version available.
