  1. I would like to record VHS movie to DV. I am using Panasonic NV-FJ610B VCR and Panasonic NV-MX7 camcorder. How do I connect them up? I've tried connecting AV in/out (camcorder) to AV2 scart socket. I also made sure that the setting on camcorder is on VCR. At the moment, I have no luck, nothing is recorded when I tried to record. Please help.

    Thanks.

  2. I use a similar set up and have good results.

I have my JVC VCR plugged into a Sony PC330 with the leads that come with the camera (TV ones) and use a scart convertor.

I then capture onto the DV tape and then capture onto the hard drive as normal, using studio 9.

My initial problem was that I thought passthrough funtion actually meant that I could "pass through" the analogue signal and use the camcorder to convert to digital, but you have to record to the camera then capture onto the HD.

I have a NV-MX3 and often record into it. With the MX3, you simply plug the composite/stereo audio lead into the AV in/out plug and if the source device has it, an svideo lead. Hit play on the source device, you should see the playback on the cameras screen, then you hit record on MX3's remote.

Don't forget to have the camcorder set to VCR.

What it won't do, is record NTSC, even if it has been converted to PAL by the source device, so it isn't very tolerent of source inperfection.

With SCART, you should check that the lead is actually using the video out from the vcr and not the video in from the vcr.
