Hi
I've recently bought a recordable Yamada DVD drive, works great, however I'm having major problems getting the DVD files into Xvid format.
I get the DVD files using DVD Dycryptor.
For normal DVDs I use SimpleDivX to convert to Xvid or DivX, however for DVDs from my Recordable at the start of conversion it comes up with, "Waiting For Window 'ICCompressorChoose' slot 0..."
Nothing I do makes this box go away & I have to abort the conversion.
Trying Dr DivX doesn't give good quality even with the bitrate & various other settings set to max, I also get colour flicker.
Opening the files as .vob in Virtual Dub-MPEG2 did work well for the first Vob file, however the film is split into 3 vob files & when I load the second vob into virtual dub it's out of sync with the audio. However the original vob plays fine in WMP or PDVD.
When I try to adjust audio skew Virtual Dub just crashes.
Tries to join the film in TMPG, but TMPG tells me my vob files aren't mpegs, changing the extension to .mpeg doesn't help either.
Does anyone know of a way around this or the best way to get films from my standalone DVD into Xvid format?
Many thanks.

Hello,
Have you tried dvdshrink? This might get you more compliant vobs. Just a thought. I haven't had trouble ripping settop dvds from a friend. Maybe a different program will help. Good luck.
