    I have an avi which ffmpegx identifies as the following:
    mpeg4, 664x368, 25.00fps, audio: ac3, 48000hz, stereo, 224kb/s.

    Converting the video to dvd is no problem, but I am not sure about the audio. Should I use passthrough since it is already ac3 or should I set the codec to ac3 still?

    You should set it to AC3.
