  1. TMpgEnc keeps shutting itself down during encoding!!

WindowsXP, had this problem happen before, it went away for a while, now it seems to have returned. I have bare minimum or no programs running while encoding, yet for no apparent reason the program, while encoding, abruptly exits...closes itself down. No crash message anywhere, nothing. Anyone have any ideas? Don't remember if this ever happened or not in Win98SE.
My system: Asus A7M266 1.33Ghz/266FSB 512MB Crucial DDR Sdram. All In Wonder Radeon 32MB DDR Sdram. Toshiba SD-M1202 DVD Rom (just 2X I believe)30GB 7200 Rpm Maxtor HD for WinXP 2600 (Final)and programs, 80GB 7200. Nothing overclocked.

  2. try setting you memory paging to min 500 and max 1100. It was suggested during my memory fault days... it has solved that problem. it may solve yours...

Were you trying to encode DiVX? If so, this mean there is a error in either the video or audio stream.

Perhaps look at VBV buffer size adjustment. When using custom settings this area is editable. I have had TMPGEnc hang previously because this setting was too low. ie for High Qual SVCD I have VBV buff set at 180 not 112 as standard template uses. Hope that helps.

  6. No, I've been encoding SVCD's, usually at 70-75 quality setting, I did try raising the VBV buffer size, still nothing....This particular movie would not play at all in the latest WinDVD 3.0, however other DVD's play fine in my PC drive with WinDVD, and this DVD did play fine in another set-top DVD player. All the vobs seemed to rip fine though, all the same size as they are on the DVD...I was thinking/hoping that maybe just the intro was screwed up (this is Disney's "Snow White" by the way)
