  1. I mounted a VCD image using Alcohol and copied across the avseq01.dat to my hard disk. I then deleted the image and tried to play avseq01.dat. The file would not play properly which was when I discovered (using a guide on this site) that you are meant to perform such an operation using IsoBuster "Extract but filter only M2F2 Mpeg Frames". So the question is how do I get my extracted avseq01.dat into a playable form having deleted the original image?

    Thanks for any suggestions,

  2. You can simply rename from .dat to .mpg to have it playable
by windows media player. Then if the problem still exists
vcdgear may assist in fixing it.

You can also drag and drop the renamed .mpg file into nero
or other VCD burning software to recreate a VCD playable
    on a DVD player.

  3. Coping from .dat to .mpg and playing results in a very corrupt display for a few seconds before media player (and several others) gives up. VcdGear is not able to fix the problems. Nero does not recognise the file as a valid mpg.

My understanding is that when I copied the file from the image it copied it in raw mode which incorporated the structure of the VCD rather than just coping the mpg contents, which is what the IsoBuster option gives.

  4. I would go with the isobuster method if it comes up with an error, hit ignore. This should work.

  5. You can use VCDEasy to "extract" the datas from your .dat file to a real mpeg file.

Go to the Tools menu, then Mpeg Tools tab and in the bottom of the windows, put you dat file, give a name/path for the new file and hit the "convert" button.

  6. Thanks for the two additional suggestions unfortunately I still don't have a fix.

cd090580: VCDEasy comes back with "...The file is not a MPEG file with RIFF header [.dat file]"

Hardcoreruss: How can I use isobuster to fix the file? (I don't have the image any more.)
