I have a Pioneer A06 4x dvd-r drive... i think thats the model number anyway....
my quesiton is... is there a way to "make" this drive an external drive and use on my new laptop? I dont have the laptop yet, its being shipped... but its a Dell Inspiron 8100 with all the bells and whistles except a dvd-r
im just curious if this is possible before I go and spend some more dough on a new dvd-r

you can buy an external firewire or USB2 enclosure. probably around $40 over there. just put the drive in the enclosure, and plug the elcosure into your pc. job done.
