    Hello,

As noted in the subject line, I have a Sony Digital 8 camcorder. I have (obviously) had it for awhile. However, over time, I have been getting more and more picky about the picture it produces. The resolution is all right (at least until HDTV camcorders come down to below $1500), but the color of the video I take with it just isn't as "vibrant" as the actual scene.

Is there any software that can "correct" the color of the camcorder back to something similar to "real life" colors? I realize it probably won't be perfect, but surely I'm not the only person who has looked for this?

I have Premiere 6.5. Can this software do such a color correction? Or do I need something else? HOW do I do this?

    Thanks for your help!

Doesn't anyone have any ideas about how to color correct the picture for various lighting conditions in Premiere?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Upgrade to premiere pro. It has very good at color correction/modification.

    troyvcd1,

What features does Pro have that 6.5 doesn't? Also, what is the process for doing the color corrections? Are there any tutorials that you are aware of?

    Thanks for your help!

From what I know 6.5 has no color correction capability. PPro can virtually change any aspect of color you want. It is really easy to do in ppro. I dont know of any tutorials but it is all in the manual.

Over the course of the last week or so, I have been playing around with Premiere 6.5 some more. It is probably obvious to those of you who work with it all the time, but I found out about the Effects "tab". In it there are a number of things that I would associate with "color correction" of video.

I'm talking about "Color Balance" (Red, Green, Blue), "Color Balance" (HLS) (Hue, Lightness, Saturation), and "Gamma Correction" among others. Other than these, what can Premiere Pro do that these won't? Also, does anyone have any tutorials for the proper way to do color correction of video... The Sony 310 doesn't have the best color fidelity I have ever seen.

    Thanks!
