Im trying to convert this avi file into a dvd compliant mpeg-2. The avi I believe is encoded with xvid. So I load it into tmpegenc wizard w/o a problem and hit next a few times. The video is 46min but it comes out to be 1 hour and 36 minutes! I'm not sure why either. I play it on windows media player and its fine, 46 minutes. Any way to fix this because it doesnt encode properl;y

I would run it through Gspot and see what it says. The audio file may be the problem. TMPGEnc doesn't like some audio formats.

ok I used avi codec to identify and video says: XVID MPEG-4 and

    Audio says: MPEG Layer-3

MP3 audio and TMPGEnc don't get along. Take a look at this thread:https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=941122&highlight=tmpgenc+mp3#941122

Does anyone know if using external encoders (toolame for MP2, Lame for MP3, ssrc for sample rate) in TMPGEnc fixes this issue (ie. the issue is TMPGEnc's in-house audio encoder)?
    If in doubt, Google it.

Ok I made the audio into a pcm unsigned 16 bit stereo wav. I loaded it in and the length of the movie surely is 46 minutes which is expected. However when I do the actual encode I see the movie in the preview screen normall and then it becomes all black. The movie is still being encoded since I see the frame number moving but then after another 10 seconds or so it stops and I get an error saying "Cannot Read Video". Any ideas?

You must have the 'Direct Show Multimedia Filter ' set to the highest priority .

Also did you check your file for Bad Frames ?

Just changed the direct show filter and it seems to be working!

I had it on 2 which was tied with my dvd2avi plugin so I made the directshow set to 3 and so far so good. I better not speak too soon though as the encode isnt finished yet ^^*
