  1. I dont know why, but every time I try to covert an avi to MPEG1 to do a VCD the file starts converting but after 10 minutes the computers reboots!
    This happens with different files.
I know there must be something wrong my my cpu cause none of files work!
I am a bit lost, can some help me please?
    Thanks a lot,

  2. Check your powersupply first, then your CPU temperatures.

  3. thanks for your answer Suntan!
I found something that can help.
While doing a movie just yet, I ve got this error:

TMPGEnc Error: "Illegal MPEG Audio Stream"

    What is that?
I First open the movie with VirtualDub and save the audio file as a wav.
Then I open the TMPGEnc and select the movie with the audio I stripped from virtualdub.
    What should I do?
    Thanks a lot,
    diego.

  4. Diego,
Did you use Full Processing Mode when you extracted the audio?

Whe you ask a question like this, a complete list of your system O/S, hardware, software, power supply and other specs, components would be a great help.

If those check out to be good, look for bad sectors on your hard drive.

Check your system log. If it is bad sectors, windows will make a note, something like unable to read, or unable to write. Also enable S.M.A.R.T. for your hard drive(s) and see what it says about the condition of them.

I use to have the same problem. My CPU was overheating. I have an AMD processor, and AMD chips run hotter than Intel.

Open the case and blow off any extra dust around the CPU and the power supply fans. Also try turning up the A/C when doing conversions.

If you want to monitor the temperature of the MB and CPU there is a program you can download for free, called (of all things) Motherboard Monitor. Do a search to find it.

  8. You could take the case top off, point a room fan at it & if it works then you know its hot.

Mine did exactly that when the 12VDC power supply went. It was at 10.5 and would reach a point where it would just shut off....
