Ok, I went ahead and brought a Sony DRU700A DVD+R DL drive and a pack of VERBATIM DVD+R DL LAYER disks (DL Starter pack), and I'm testing them out on my DVD player. Ok I made a backup copy of a purchased DVD (LOTR)I have, and it burned perfect with the new drive using Nero 6, but when I play it in my Philips DVD 75 Player it plays fine till I get half way though the movie, I guess once it's switches to Layer 2, it freezes up and giives me a unknown Disk error. Has anyone had this happen? If it still the early to tell since the Technology is new, it may be an issue once the DVD DL disks really take off. Also, Since it uses a LiteON Firmware I tried to use the LiteOn Booktype utily, but it didn't work, it says it changed it but I look at the properties in Nero and it still says it it's a DVD+R DL Disk and the same thing for the Booktype. If someone does a better way to change it, please let me know.
Thanks,
Derek![]()

use dvd bitsetter for bitsetting.
looks like the new technology already has problems....nothing out of ordinay, everybody know this.
we have to wait more for this to be reliable. -
Philips software people will be very busy to solve this problem for you in their next firmware update together with DVD+RW discs interchangeability problems, hopfully!
