  1. Okay,

    Small issue. I used CLAD DVD to rip a movie. I have a VOB file that I frameserved using DVD2AVI. I put the D2v file in the Video input field in TMPEG and the resulting audio in the audio input field, set the other settings and hit Start.

    Now, here is what is weird. In TMPEG the video images show up as being encoded, and when I preview in TMPEG I see the video as well. What is strange is that when I try to play back the final mp2 file in Windows Media Player....I get ONLY audio, no video.

    The only time I get the video to playback is if I output the files as AVI - but then I get no AUDIO..just video.

    ANyone have any suggestions as to how to fix this problem? I feel I am getting close, but run out of experiments.

    Any help is KEWL!! THANX

    Doesn't mp2 stand for mpEG-2 video ?

    If in doubt, Google it.

  4. I have no M2V file.

    Once the VOB is frameserved, I get an audio file extracted, and a video fiel extracted (the .d2v file)

    I use these then to encode in TMPEG so I can make an SVCD. Problem is, everything looks normal in TMPEG. The video is encoding, I see it on the screen. But, when it's finished, I try playing the SVCD file on the computer and I get ONLY audio, no video? What's going on?

    I know it isn't a codec problem because I have successfully made SVCD in the past. Somehow I think maybe it was frameserved wrong, or there is something in the source file that I have to alter a setting for in TMPEG that would correct this issue. Any MORE ideas???

    What setting do you have in here ?

    If you don't know where this is then close the wizard.

    It sounds like you have ES (Audio only) selected. You need ES (Video+audio) if you plan to mux when authoring or Sytem(Video+audio) if you want a muxed MPEG-2 file.

    You didn't delete the VOBs after running through DVD2AVI ?

    What happens when you go to File > Preview and press the play button ?
    Do you get vision then ???
    If in doubt, Google it.

    M1V = MPEG1 video
    M2V = MPEG2 video
    MP2 = MPEG Layer II audio
    MP3 = MPEG Layer III audio
    MP4 = MPEG-4 video file (should be in an AVI), misnamed
    MPA = MPEG Layer II audio
    MPV = MPEG1 or MPEG2 video
    MPG = .3 extension version of MPEG, from DOS/Win16 era, still used Win32/NT
    MPEG = MPEG video, audio or muxed video-audio file
    VOB = MPEG1/2 with DVD NAV info
    DAT = MPEG1 with VCD data

    MP2 is audio, if contains video, misnamed (ATI did this in old days)

  10. I have tried both ES Video and Audio...and System Video and Audio.

    Doesn't work when I preview it in Windows Media player. If I preview it in TMPEG I DO get video..

    What else should I try. Would a Telecine setting have anything to do with it?

    just a thought - without re-reading whole thread ..

    you DO have a mpeg2 codec installed and can read other mpeg files with media player ?

    Try just doing ES (Video). You will get a M2V file only. If it don't play then there's a codec problem I think.

    What version of WMP are you using ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

  15. Okay, interesting thing....

    When I set everything up in TMPEG, I went to File > Output > AVI

    What I got was a file with Video when played back in Windows Media Player, but no audio...

    Every other option I choose, gives me no video but audio on playback

    The playback was choppy though...so I don't know what that could possibly be....
