i have a sony vaio computer...2.02 p4,,,256ram,,,60 hd

about 3 weeks ago my computer started freezing when using tpgne,,
easy vcd, even nero when i try to convert and burn to disc.
so i used my start-up disc and put my computer back to out of the box settings, except some tweeks ive done but its still freezing up..
ive run diagnostic and everything comes up o.k.
why,,someone PLEASE help me...thanks

Please do not cross post. Once is enough. How many programs are you running in the background? Your ram might be full.

Check for spyware, run a virus check, what os are you running. If xp, do you have windows update 811493 installed? This update has been known to lock up computers.

Sounds likely. My last computer would sometimes do the same until I put another fan in it. TMPGEnc or anything similarly demanding will peg your processor at 100%. Easy to check: Take the cover off, point a fan at your computer, and try again.
