  1. Out of interest, is it possible to rip video DVD/VCD content on the iPod (using Mac the Ripper say), hook it up to one of those portable DVD players and then access and play it on the portable DVD player? If possible, it would be great for kids' vids in the car!

I don't know of any portable DVD players that would do that, and I would be _very_ surprised if such a player existed.
If it isn't broken, take it apart and find out why.

The only theoretical option would be if
your Portable DVD player has the option to mount
hard discs through FW. If so, in theory,
if you ripped the DVDs to the iPod as Disc Images,
then if the ipod could conenct to the portable
DVD player, and the portable had the option to
mount hard dsics through firewire, say asimilar
to a PC mounting an F or G disc, or a Mac mounting
an external FW drive, then if you could then
open the disc images stored on the ipod, and then if
your portable DVD player had a significant OS
or a Player that recognized Disc Images,
then in theory, you could accomplish what
    you are after.

however a quick search yeilded no current DVD Players
    with FW inputs:

more of a OCD question kicking in here.... but how come all your replies wrap so tightly?

    do you physically hit return
    like this each time inorder
to make the text this small?

    Or is this just something
    that happens when you
    type all
    the way
    out?

    :P
