  1. Hi

I'm new here and I have this problem that maybe some experts can help me solve.

I have a Panasonic DMR E 50 DVD burner and uses RAM disks to record some TV shows. Then, I take the disk to my computer where I have an LG DVD burner. Now, before I burn the DVD's, I edit the shows using TmpGenc DVD Author.

If there is only one show recorded on the RAM, no problem but if there are two or more shows, the software only recognizes the first show and consequently I can not edit the other shows.

I have also tried Womble's MPEG-VCR 3.14 and it does the same thing.

On the other hand, Power DVD plays all the shows on the RAM disc without problem (no editing, though).

Is there anyone familiar with this problem ?

    thanks

  2. I also have a Panny E50 and ran into all kinds of bugs when trying to edit .VRO files from DVD-RAM's... I would have no problems at all sometimes, then other times I could only partially extract the MPEG2 video from the RAM disc, even though the files would play fine withPowerDVD.

I actually gave up on using RAM's and bought inexpensive DVD-R's in bulk to do my recording. The DVD-Video format (.VOB files) are much easier to deal with.

I recently upgraded to a new JVC DR-M10SL. It makes a better looking, less noisy DVD recording than my Panasonic and it records to -RW's, too.

I wish I had a better answer for you about the .VRO files. I called Panasonic tech support about some of my troubles with them and was told that they did not really design DVD-RAM recording to be used in computer editing. It's supposed to be a kind of mini Tivo/PVR.

You might try extracting the entire set of .VRO's from the RAM to your hard drive, then re-name them with the .mpg extension.
