Hi, hope someone has an answer for me.

I'm trying to rip a movie but I get sector errors when using either DVDDecryptor or DVDShrink. The DVD disc does have scratches on it which is what I think is causing the problem. I'm able to play the DVD on Cyberhome DVD player but not on computer.

Any suggestions on how I can rip the movie?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Do a search for "Brasso" or "Toothpaste"
    Not joking either...
Both products work well at enabling you to remove marks and scratches..

It's a common problem. Even if you could read it, the errors would still be there. As iooi says, polish them out. If they are minor, some people have had luck with just washing them in warm water and applying a light wax to fill the minor scratches. I saved my only copy of XP that way. Took about 30 minutes of careful buffing to clean up a big scratch. Crossways, not circular.

  4. Similar to the advice already given. I used a candle on a badly scratched disc and managed to rip it.
Rub the candle all over the disc and smooth out the wax.
The first time I tried I removed far too much wax (great shine on the disc though) and still got errors.
The second time I was a little less careful (disc was dull and I only spent a minute to clean off the excess) and got a great result .

    Thanks for all the tips.

As for the toothpaste, does it have to be any particular kind like "whitening", Tar Tar control" or any regular toothpaste will do?

    Plain white toothpaste.

PASTE ONLY. No "whitening" ingredients, and for God's sake NO BAKING SODA. You're not trying to rub THROUGH the disc. LOL.
