Hey I keep burning DVDS backups of what I have with some high quality Ridata's
I useually use DVDshrink to create and ISO and burn the ISO in Nero and useually at the end of each movie I Will get some freezing and skipping...
but when I play it on my computer it is always fine...
Any suggestions that I could do to help curb this problem?
is my DVD player just sucky? - its a JVC...
Should I use DVD shrink to create the ISO and burn with DVDdycrypter?
the thing is some movies are fine while others are not

use dvdinfopro to find your discs' media code, then look it up in the media section. look up your dvd player in the dvd player section.
could be your discs are bad, or your player. or both. Burning an ISO with nero should be fine, as should dvddecrypter. i think shrink has come problems -creating- isos though, try ouputting to vob files and then using magicISO to create your .iso.

a very common problem usually associated with low quality media... a few options: either use a different better media (see media section on the right and www.nomorecoasters.com) or if you still have a lot of your media try setting dvd shrink to output a smaller sized iso - such as 4-4.1 GB cuz the end of low quality media is usually problematic.
TzvikaWith all due respect... and there is respect... -
these are ritec discs though so they should be legit and it never skips in my computers dvd drive....

I think I am going to have to guess its a bad player because the media is RiteckGO4
The player is a JVC HR-XVc25U.... -
the problems are -
shrink-making isos is crap.
and burning them in nero isnt a good idea. -
aight so how should I alter my process
Use shrink to creat Vobs then use imageburntool... then use dvd dycrypter? -
Freezing near the end of a disk is almost always the media. Check out this thread about bad ritek/ridata disks. Either make the image only 4 GB as suggested, or try some new disks.
Different DVD drives behave differently, however, so you could try a different DVD player as well."Art is making something out of nothing and selling it." - Frank Zappa -
thanks for the help it makes sense cause its always towards the end of my movies....

wow thanks for the quick help!
I guess I could re-rip all the dvds I have already burnt and make them smaller now correct? -
the thing that gets me though is that it always works perfectly on the computer why is that
thanks guys for takin the time to help a newb out -
would it work if I reripped the dvds that I have already burnt and just make them smaller?
-
Yes, that will work. Quality could be compromised but who know's for sure.

If they play fine on your computer, they should be fine for ripping again. But I suspect that ripping the originals would be better. Why do you create an iso first? I just use shrink and burn directly (via nero) I never have the problems you are describing (but I have a different player). Are you using labels on your disks? Do the videos freeze even when you put them in and jump to the end?

yah I dunno why I do ISOs I just sorta thought it was easier to create an iso then burn it with nero... how do you do it?
I guess I will reburn all my dvds then....
dont have access to the origionals as I left them at home and at college summer session
I just write on my DVDS with a marker - how do you suggest labeling them and I will try just jumping to the end....
I really think its the player for some reason -
I was just checking since some paper labels can cause the kind problems you describe. But since you don't use them, that can't be the cause. I just load the dvd, start shrink and select burn after encoding. It creates temp files with all the vobs and ifos and uses the nero burning engine to burn them to disk automatically. I don't use iso because it seems an unneccesary step and I have Windows 98 (file size limitation).

I like to make an ISO and set DVDShrink to automatically launch DVDDecrypter to burn it. Never had any problem with it (latest version of DVDShrink has this capability). Very hard to screw up such a simple procedure. But do whatever works for you.
