  1. I don't know what I have done wrong, but some XVID avi files will not
play correctly with WMP anymore. The picture is frozen and the audio is playing at 5 times the normal speed. If I play the same file with VLC it works just fine. What is the problem? What am I doing wrong?
GSpot tells me I've got 2 compatible video codecs installed and also the rendering is successfull. So, why is it behaving this way?
Should I uninstall and reinstall the codecs? In that case, which ones are the best to use?

    Grateful for your help,

    The Larch

  2. VLC uses it own codecs while WMP uses directshow codecs so it is possible that your direct show codecs are screwed up, but I'll venture to guess it is a WMP screwup.

If anything the thing you are doing wrong is using WMP. Try Zoomplayer, if they play incorrectly with zoomplayer then you know it is the codecs.
