I have recently got hold of winAVI and it is such a great conversion program,I have noticed one smalll problem with it though.

When you convert a video file to DVD(PAL),you cannot change the ratio of the file. It is always 720x480 which is the ratio for NTSC.

Is there any way to change this to the PAL ratio(720x576)?

    Thanks.

  2. *bump*

I have the exact same problem. Is WinAVI useless for converting AVI-Pal to DVD-Pal ?

Are there any solutions to this?
    cheers,

I dont know about converting avi files but I have now worked how to get the correct ratio for PAL-DVDS.
When you click on the 'convert to dvd' button you must click on the ratio '4:3',this makes it change to 720x576.

  4. hmm strange..when I try to do this, the field is still greyed out i.e. not accessible.
    What version are you using?

  5. That's a WinAVI UI bug, just UI(user interface) bug. In real DVD files generated by WinAVI is PAL 720*576, NTSC 720*480, you can see it in PowerDVD.

We'll fix it in WinAVI v5.7

  6. Actually, in version 5.5 and 5.6 it is not just a UI-bug. WinAVI does not convert correctly in those versions.
I just downloaded the 5.7beta you mentioned in another post and that version DOES convert correctly. However the UI-bug is still there.

    Just so you know
    Anyway, thank you for replying.
