This is the first time i have used TmpgEnc DVD Author and i am having trouble adding some background Music to the menu that will be played when the DVD is first loaded into a DVD player.
I have burned a couple of test DVD's on DVD RW, and i am happy with the menu's that i have created but a 20-30 second bit of music when the menu comes up would be alot better instead of nothing.
How and where do i add the music?
    Thanks.

You need to create a MPEG file in TMPGEnc or any other encoder that has either motion or a still picture as the video and your audio as the audio. You then set the background in TMPGEnc DVD Author to be this MPEG, and set the running time to the running time of the menu MPEG you created.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Thanks jimmalenko (You Beauty, or is that Jesaulenko). I take it your a Carlton man.
Anyway thanks for the tip. I tried what you suggested about the background and it worked well, music and all.
I actually recorded a mpeg-2 with audio via my WinFast capture card and just imported that straight into TmpgEnc Author as the background with music. Anyway my question is about Tmpg Enc Plus. What is it actually used for cos i can make DVD's complete with the menu's without using it.
I just capture my vids from my external VCR or DVD , then import them straight into TmpgEnc Author.
So am i missing out on something by not using the plus software.
    Thanks again VEBouto (Go Hawks).

Your capture software must be capturing into MPEG-2 on the fly. That is fine as long as you can capture to the specs you require. TMPGEnc Plus is primarily an MPEG-1/MPEG-2 encoder, but if you do not need its features then you may as well not use it.
    If in doubt, Google it.

I am having a similar problem, but only for a background MPEG that has AC-3 audio...can the background MPEG not use AC-3?

    Thanks...

I think you need the AC3 plugin for TMPGEnc DVD Author if you want to output using AC3 sound, including the menus.
    If in doubt, Google it.
