  1. I'm trying to convert RM to SVCD and DVD. I have tried AVOne and EO Video with mixed results.

AVOne gives me good results sometimes. The main problem is the SVCD and DVD audio and video being out of synch when I convert some RM files. Also I have had problems with the program crashing on some RM files and, naturally, not being able to convert them at all.

EO Video seems to go a much better job, but the files tend to be overly large. I have found that the best results in terms of qualityand reasonable files size are to be had by choosing variable bitrate, but the files are stilll large and I do not know of a reasonably easy and inexpensive way to convert to DVD from the SVCD files from EO video. I believe TMPGEncoder will do this but my trial version will not do this and it seems the cost to buy the program is $68.

In a nut shell, is there a better program than AVOne for converting to SVCD and DVD that AVOne? Is there a simpler and cheaper way to convert the EOVideo SVCD files to DVD so that I can get a reasonable amount of video in terms of minutes on one disc (DVD, that is)?

Also, in EO Video when I choose automatic or specify a fixed bit rate, the files are the same size regardless of the bit rate chosen. ???? Why is this?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

personally i would use eovideo to ouptut to .avi and then encode that to MPEG2 using TMPGenc. when i last used it EO was very buggy, i'm not surprised you can't get some features to work properly.

$68 for tmpgenc is a worthwhile investment. i've been using it for three years now on a daily basis. it's simply invaluable.
