I tried the BeSweet and the GUI to create AC3 files from my AVI captures.

When I run it and check the log it says unrecognized format. I am capturing in PCM 48Khz, 192kps. (8mm anlog mono home movies)

How do I make BeSweet work? Is there another app I should be using? I want to create the audio directly from teh AVI.

Capture with IuVCR @ Half D1 PicVideo 18 (no dif between 18-20 that I can see)
    Encode with AVISynth to TMPGEnc 2xVBR. 1000, 2200, 3500.

Or should I just let TMPGEnc create the audio and do MP2 instead?

That would depend. Is your player capable of MP2 playback? What country are you in?

Knowing the answers to those two questions could greatly reduce any headaches. You may not even need to bother with AC3 at all. If you do still need AC3, then I'd recommend you try TMPGEnc's AC3 encoder. People are divided on BeSweet's output and the resultant files are questionable as to their compatability. TMPGEnc's AC3 encoder is $30 or so. You might want to consider that as an albeit not freeware encoder but cheap (~$970 less than) compared with any other Dolby certified product.

So are you saying that you are loading the avi as your audio source? Well Besweet is an audio encoder not an avi parser. You need to extract the audio from your avi first and load that. It takes about 30 secs and the audio remains unchanged.

Just use VirtualDub. Load the avi, set the audio tab to direct stream process, then hit file/save wav.

BeSweet totally changed its AC3 encoding engine in the latest release. Its much more compatible now.

I wanted to avoid that step, but forgot I could do a direct stream.

Will give it a try. BTW..I'm using NTSC. Every player I've tried works with the standard MP2 output from TMPGEnc.

    Thanks!

  6. If you have the vobinput.dll in the besweet folder it will convert the audio directly from the AVI.

I put it in there and got the same error:
    Error 58: Error : Unknown Input-File Format :

  9. Maybe VOBInput.dll doesnt work with your files then. Personally I would not let TDA encode MP2, i did once by accident, very cranked up volume and distorted and channels bleeding into eachothers. Better to take the extra time to extract the audio and convert with FFmpegGUI or besweet.

i tried FFmpgGUI and it worked flawlessly right from the AVI. I will stick with that instead of BeSweet.

    Thanks!
