  1. Can You put 2 movies on a dvd-r using DVD Shrink 2.3, (I know there are newer versions but I need to be able to control the compression levels for the movies.) If it's possible to do so, could someone tell me how. Thanx.

  2. Hey, take a closer look, you can manually set compression level in versions 3.05b and 3.17, just for starters. Probably in ALL versions of DVDShrink.
    Pull! Bang! Darn!

  4. my one question is why use 2.3 when 3.1 is available??

  5. Yes you can. You use the "Re-Author" button. You simply drag and drop the 1st DVD from the right hand window to the left hand window. You then do the same for the 2nd DVD.

The right hand window will allow you to select your DVD/s from either your hard drive or DVD Rom etc. However, you will not be able to have menus if you do this and if both movies are big, you will need to compress to fit your blank DVD and may sacrifice video quality if there is a lot of compression.

The "Re-Author" utility is an excellent tool. You can even select the start and end point for each movie, thereby trimming out unwanted material. You can also select which audio format the DVD players should default to, whether to have captions or not etc....play around with it, it is dead easy to use and other than sacrificing any menus, it is excellent.

gave that link because it has a guide to use for what the original poster asked about. It doesn't mean you can't use the guide. It basically is the same guide but the versions have different interfaces. I don't use the latest dvd shrink. I use the old faithful version 3.05 beta.

Hi Roswell Jedi. I have the same problem as you when trying to use Shrink 2.3. I use 3.0 Beta 5 for this purpose and it works a treat !!!!

I think you need to either have two DVD Drives or rip one to the HD for it to work. I know with 3.05B you open first movie, click reauthor, drag first tile across to reauthor window, go back to the first window and open second movie and repeat.

I resisted to upgrade from 3.05B to 3.17 for quite a while but now that I have upgraded I am most impressed by the extra features - writing directly to ISO is great IMO.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  12. I've downloaded 3.17, but now both movies are too big for the dvd-r. The first movie is at 46 percent & the 2nd is at 42 percent. Is there a way to lower custom ratio?

Are you unchecking all unwanted audio streams ???

It sounds like the movies you are trying to put on might be too big/complex. For quality's sake you might be better off re-encoding because I think you are asking too much of the software. There's no reason why you can't ignore the disc size error and run the output through DVDShrink again, but quality is sure to be an issue.

What are the running times of the two movies ???
    If in doubt, Google it.
