Sorry if this seems a dumb question... I have just installed an additional 160gb hdd for storing my dv video and I want to know if I should install the editing program on the C: drive (60gig) or my new drive...thanks for your help.

Install the program on your c drive and then work with your movies and video off of your new drive. Normally you should run your programs off of the drive that the os is on.

Put a 5Gb partition on your new drive and put your Windows Swap file there. It will free up a bit of space on your C drive and will improve performance should the drive get fragmented with files.

Thanks for your replies...my limited knowledge will let me set up a 5gig partition on the new drive but how do I move the windows swap file?

If you are talking about the paging file, also called swap file (virtual memory): Control Panel > System > Advanced > Performance (Settings) > Advanced >Virtual Memory> Change. The setting for location, etc. are there.
