Hi group. I have noticed something when I was transfering a VHS to dvd. Here is my set-up.......I have a sony trv38 dv camcorder that I am using as a pass through to convert my analog signal out of my VCR into my Sony Vaio laptop. I am capturing using windv and using dvd source creator / tmpgenc to author my dvd's I am getting what sounds like a "white noise" in the audio track. It is faint and when I turn down the volume on the TV it goes away, but as I turn up the volume it comes right back. It almost seems like the recording level may have been too high during authoring process. I do not beleive there is a way to control the audio in tmpgenc is there? Has anyone else have this issue? I compared a dvd that I made via a stand alone recorder to the dvd I made with my pc and the audio is much better on the standalone version. Should I be using a secondary program to clean up the audio before authoring the dvd? If so, what is a good software that does not cost an arm and leg? One last question, when going form VHS to dvd via my pc, do I still loose a generation as I would when going directly to dvd via a stand alone burner? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
