Definate newbie - my first post. Perhaps I'm not searching on the right terms... point me in the right direction if so, but I did not see any posts regarding this issue.
I have already read what most of the folks on this forum think of Pinnacle Studio products.... crummy software and that I should buy some real software... but I got what I got for now...
I am using Windows XP with latest patches and Studio 8.12 with all the latest upgrades available. I am in the United States and the default capture setting in Studio is NTSC.
Whenever I use the "Make Movie" tab to create an MPEG-2 file, Studio cannot read the file (using the "captured file" folder or "open file") and tells me that it cannot open the file because Studio is not enabled for PAL.
As I have read in other posts, Pinnacle support has also had me shut everything down on my machine, uninstall, reinstall, remove registry entries etc...etc... and nothing has helped yet. They are sortof dancing around the issue.
Everything else seems to be OK. I can create AVI, Windows Media, Real Player and MPEG-1 files and read them in Studio and MYDVD, burn them - no problems. I can capture video create an AVI file, and can import the file into MYDVD and burn a DVD. As long as I don't create and MPEG-2 file. When I try to import the MPEG-2 file into MYDVD, it provides a similar error saying basically that I am trying to open a PAL file while set for NTSC format.
Of course, if I change my settings in MYDVD to PAL instead of NTSC, I can import and burn a PAL DVD coaster to add to my collection, since it doesn't play on the DVD player.
I have checked every setting I could find in Pinnacle Studio many times... am I missing something? Any advice on how to solve this problem in Pinnacle Studio 8 would be appreciated.
