    Hi all

I have looked through the forums and guides but have not found what I'm looking for (someone please post a link if it's there and I've missed it!)

What I'm wanting to do is this:

    Take a wav file.
Create an avi file using the wav file to fix the length, and then add a combination of video (without affecting wav audio), and still images of varying duration, by previewing the wav to determine the positions and lengths. I've got plenty of tools to convert and combine various formats, so it doesn't really matter whether it can output with the wav file interleaved or not.

I'm not asking for a complete run through - just somoene to suggest a package that will fulfill my requirements, so that I can read up!

    Thanks for your time

    Nick

    Hello,
I'm not exactly sure what your trying to do but it sounds like you need to synch your audio with your two video sources. I would suggest using a plain old wav player with a graphic equalizer showing the wave and the time position so you can see where the peaks and valleys are. Then you could play the audio simultaneously with a seperate video player to match them up. This might help you determine lengths. If you're looking to do something else an example of the outcome your trying to produce might help.

P.S. Are you trying to make an avi with stills and video all in one clip? (with sound?). Maybe you could make them seperately (video then stills) and merge them later?
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

    Hi Yoda

Thanks for your help. I guess an example of what I'm trying to create would be a good idea!

What I hope to end up with is an avi file (and eventually DVD) that is a mixture of stills and video (although I know it will have to be 25fps all the time), with the audio being that of the initial wav file. What is important however, is that I can preview the file as I'm making it, to see at which point each still/ videoclip starts, and then determine it's length.

Does this make it any clearer?

    Hello,
Yes that helps a little. Try finding a still slideshow program like pinnacle that does that on its own. You would be best off making each seperately. Just keep using the wav (make duplicates if its that special). Play back each one as you modify. I'm not sure which program does realtime editing, you may have to produce it then play it back. Best of luck.

P.S. Pro programs like Videowave do special effects though I don't know about pal versions (of course you could convert it afterwards)

  6. I've been using the trial version of Screenblast movie studio to do the very thing you are trying to do. The trial version will only output avi, but TMPGenc can convert it to mpg

    Thanks everyone for your help
I will check out these programs and try to leave some opinions on them once I've found the one I like best!

After doing a bit of reading I decided to give the screenblast program a go. Not only does it do everything that I need, but it does other things that I hadn't even considered!
The program seems to run well too. No crashes or slowdown.

    Thanks again

  9. Vegas Video can do this (as well as other programs), at least this is the one I use for still/video presentations. Just put the wav file into one of the audio tracks and consider that your timeline. Then add your stills and video clips to the video track. You can then manipulte your images to fit your wav "timeline".
If it works, don't fix it.
