    Hi,

Why would MainConcept maintain video quality yet drop the sound midway through the VCD/SVCD encoding process from a decently captured 6.5hr. .avi?

    Thanx!

You didn't get any responses, but I've been seeing this as well - it drops audio partway through, for no apparent reason!

    6.5 Hr, hmm

As a point of reference, I have a version of the Mainconcept MPeg encoder included in the ULead Video Studio 8 package.

I've routinely captured 8-12 hrs of VCD standard MPeg1 video, MPeg L2, 44.1kHz, 224Kbps audio.

I just leave it on CNBC (from cable box) while at work. Never had a problem.

Realtime SVCD capture maxes out my lowly Celeron 2.4GHz over long captures causing rebuffers and lost frames.

Here is the place to ask. They have excellent support forums but response may take a day

  5. I am new to MainConcept. I have been using TMPGEnc for quite sometime. Recently I tried to encode small duration high resolution sample AVI files to mpeg using MC just to get the feel. I observed the same thing.

After encoding the same file again and again but with diff values for birates etc just to get the hang of it I noticed that suddenly there was no sound in the encoded mpeg. I thouth that maybe I did something but after reading some of the thread I realised that it is indeed a bug with MC. Will check out the MC support fourum for that.

I don't know why and when it happens, but when you encode with mainconcept, better install only the codecs you need at the time...

Not a true solution, but that helped me to bypass those bugs or whatever it is....

  7. It has to do with your codecs but I have no idea what's causing the problem. I uninstalled all my codecs because of another problem and I reinstalled them and guess what? My audio after encoding all of sudden doesn't work now. My tmpgenc doesn't even let me encode. It's a damn mystery because I have all the codecs I need.
