Seems to work OK so far.
Initially, I had no video because I forgot that the "Factory Reset" turns off my Component out.
I had to connect the Composit to see the Setup screen on the TV.

After I selected Component out during setup, I disconnected the Composit cables.

The 00000 Region hack works on my 2500.

The "macrovision by-pass" (shown below) did NOT work:

Connect DVD without tape to Input 1 on the rear of CH.
Connect VCR player to Input 2 on the front of CH
    Turn all 3 on.
Set Source to Input 2 (VCR)
Set VCR to its input to get blue screen
Press CH's record and then press CH's pause

Change CH's source to DVD player
    Start playing the DVD
Start recording by pressing CH's pause

This update fixes the locking of the dvd tray.

You no longer have to use your computer to open a locked tray.

  4. How would I use my computer to open a locked tray? I just tried the upgrade and the cd I had with the upgrade on it won't come out. And the usual way getting it out with the cover off and pressing the button on the recorder it self won't open it up that way. I get the cyberhome message at the start up then it says Ch 006 ME then it says reading and then sometimes it says open but it won't open or sometimes it says no disc when it has that firmware upgrade cd in it. I've unplugged it for a while and plugged it back in. I've had this happend before but with dvds and I was able to get those out. Any ideas. Thanks.

    Disconnect cyberhome's power cord
    Open the top cover
    Disconnect its IDE cable

    Open your computer
Disconnect its secondary IDE cable from the DVD or CD drive.
Connect the end of the cable to the Cyberhome's drive.

Cyberhome drive is now connected to the computer's mainboard.
Cyberhome's drive is now the computer's drive, powered by cyberhome,

Turn cyberhome's Power on just before the computer is turned on.
Double click "My Computer" on your desk.
Right click on the DVD drive and select "Eject" in the menu.

If there's a problem starting windows or the cyberhome DVD drive
not being shown, you'll have to go into BIOS setujp and change
    the 2ndary drive to "Auto".

Be shure to use a cdRW disk for the firmware upgrade.

If there's a problem well go on frome here

  6. Thanks so much. This sounds like the only way to get it out. I probably need a better understanding guide than this. Like how do I take the IDE cord cable out and it's those gray looking things right? I just pull it a little and it comes out? I have a cd burner on my computer I just take out the IDE cable from that burner.

Yes. It is the larger of the 2 connectors on the drive.
The other, 4 wire (red-black-black-yellow wires) connector is the power.

    Cautionary note:
Because my computer is crowed, I've had a history of inserting the connector
at an angle, that is right end of the connector goes into the drive MORE than 3 mm
before the left side enters, as well as being tilted causing the bottom to enters 1st.
This results in bending the top left corner pin flat against the connecter face
instead of going into its little hole in the connector.

There is pleanty of room in the cyberhome so above does not happen there,
ie I'm not that clusmsy!... errr i hope.
I just pull it a little and it comes out? I have a cd burner on my computer I just take out the IDE cable from that burner.
Yes and it's OK to wiggle the connector left and right 3 or 4 mm while DISCONNECTING.
