liteon 411s problem

its been 2 months since the last time i used my dvd writer, and now it can't read not to mention write dvd/cd. i know its not the maxell/fuji media since it works fine with it before. i upgraded firmware. tried using both nero and dvd decryptor. i only used it 30 times total and didn't change nething except for my uncle installing a bunch of burning software stuff on my computer which i uninstalled them all already.

411 could have probably been software upgraded from 401. It will have reading problem with -RW discs but could have no problem in burning -RWs.

What software did he install that you uninstalled? There may have been a software conflict. You may want to uninstall NERO BURN then use the NERO CLEAN TOOL. You can download it from the NERO website. After using the NERO CLEAN TOOL just reinstall the NERO BURN. What is the name of the firmware that you used on your LITEON 411 drive? i am currently using the j, before it was f, i updated it to j once i saw it didn't work. i know a fact j works with nero as my friend's works fine. he installed a lot. dvdxcopy and many other software. many of which was suppose to burn the mpeg file in an svcd onto the dvd playable on the dvdplayer. i dunno what they are called, when i realized there was a conflict and my nero wasn't opening within a few minutes i went on an uninstall fest. the nero clean tool i see on their site is for 5, i am using 6.

use GENERAL CLEAN TOOL you can use it for either 5 or 6. Nero site says this: "In some cases it can occur that you have to uninstall Nero or Nero related software (i.e. InCD...).
Please use our CleanTool to do that and afterwards download and install the latest version of our software you were using.

Please note: First make sure you have your Nero 5/6 serial number to install Nero/Nero Express with. It should look like
15xx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx (Nero 5.x) or
1Axx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx (Nero 6)
It should be located on the inside of the Nero Jewel case, or on the back of the paper sleeve the Nero CD came in.
You can also go into your Registry, and go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and under
SOFTWARE_AHEAD_NERO-BURNING ROM_INFO
obtain your Nero 5 or Nero 6 serial number from here.

Please double click the EXE file to start the program. Select the option: Clean All and then click on the "Clean Button". All Nero programs will be uninstalled. After that please restart your computer so all registry entries will be removed.

InCD 3.xx and InCD 4.xx can be removed completely under Win 9xx after a reboot.

Also all the Plugins are removed with this tool. Please make sure you have saved these files so you can re-install them afterwards.

The GeneralCleanTool recognizes if a program is still running and requests a shut down and it can remove files after a reboot in case they are still in use.

You are able to execute the CleanTool even when you have to start your computer in "Safe Mode".

You are able to use the CLEAN TOOL with NERO 6.
After you've reinstalled NERO 6 I would suggest you use the latest version. I use the latest version with my 411s@811s burner. For my Plextor 708a I use version 5.5.10.42.
