  1. I wanted to try out DVD rebuilder to see how effective it was. I followed instructions....downloaded and installed Avisynth, then downloaded MPEG2Dec3dg.dll and installed it in Avisynth's plug-in folder.

But each time I try to open the DVD Rebuilder .exe file I immediately receive an error message the says :

    " Runtime Error '5'
Invalid procedure call or argument "

I can't get past the message

    anyone have a clue?

well...thx for the effort. Unfortunately, the links offered no help. I can't even open/begin install because the error message appears immediately upon the attempt

I have been able to install other applications....DVD Rebuilder won't even begin install

The first time I installed it I got error msgs too. I suggest you take a look at doom9's forum site for DVD REBUILDER installation guide and this other guide: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd_rebuilder_tutorial.cfm
If you're not able to install DVD REBUILDER, then uninstall all the other applications first. then try installing DVD RB again then install the other applications.

  5. well....for general information....I discovered the problem/issue:

apparently, any versions of DVD Rebuilder after version 49 are incompatible with Win98....thus the error message

I was able to download version 49 and had no problem installing and using it. Backed-up a dvd with it during the night. I'm impressed with result. It would have been about a 40% compression with DVD-Shrink, so the quality of the encode versus a transcode is apparent.
