  1. can anyone tell me why i cant make a back up of a back up movie of mine.
i made a copy of a dvd movie with dvd region free and dvd shrink 3.17, its set to make it region free.
i have some mates come over with their kids and sometimes they take my dvds to watch but they get finger print and stuff all on the dvds, so to save me time later i wanted to make a back up of the back up as this way it would only tkae about 15mins to put onto hdd, and another 15 to burn, instead of 50 mins to copy the orginal again to hdd, but i cant.
dvd shrink wont do it, dvd decrypter wont, dvdfab wont, nor will clonedvd.
can anyone tell me why i cant, or how i can save me the time of doing it all over again.
    thanks.

you have tried all of these?
what kind or errors are you getting?
can you be a little more specific?

  3. You should be able to do a simple 'Disc Copy' in your burning software...

  4. um lets see.
    clonedvd just freezes.
dvdfab comes up unable to read.
dvdshrink comes up some cycle redunancy thing.
and as for dvd decrypter, buggered if i know, its a great program but the error is written stupidly, it has a bunch of numbers and crap, it starts to read and at the bottom it says looking for protection then thats where all the mumbo jumbo comes out.
    io error
    device blah blah g:drive
    scis status 0x02
    interptertaion check condition
    more numbers and crap
    inter' L-EC uncurrectable error.
i even tried copy paste but no luck.
i also tried it with 4 other backups and its all the same thing

  5. Cyclic Redundant Check error? Could be that the program can't read the disc you are trying to copy; aka, a burn error.

your having a read error on that backup , so it seems the kids have already done the damage on it

you could try cleaning the disk, or using a different dvd rom, or something like isobuster, but i think you will need to go back and create a backup from your original

Are these disk -R or + R's? I have read in another forum where someone is having the same problem with -R's but not with + R's but it is a problem with the drive and the -R's that he cannot copy a copy.

  22. I have the same problem with my NEC 1300a, latest firmware. it seems to copy originals fine and burns fine but i cant seem to copy most of my copies. i alway use Imation or Memorex dvd +r or +r/w.
I also get read errors from some discs (mainly films).
Have tried all of the above.

  25. I got this problem with 6 month old pinco's.....
Teaches you NOT to buy cheap media...Riteks are fine.
You could just try dragging the Video_Ts folder to your hard drive but i bet it will not do it.... All i did was chuck them in the bin dig the original disk out (Which of course you still have) and copy onto decent media....

I also had that problem before when I tried to backup some backups done on Ritek G04s. Backing up from backups made on TDK (code TDK002)worked OK.

I used CD/DVD diagnostic (disaster recovery software) to read back the G04 backups to my HDD to re-burn them on better quality media.
