Hello, a couple of my DVDRIP's play in black and white, does anybody know why this might be? When i play them on my computer they play in color but whenever i burn it and try to play it on my DVD player its in black a white.Any ideas why this might be happening and how to fix this?
Thanks a lot.

Since you didn't list your compression methods, I have no idea. But if the DVD is PAL format and you are trying to play it on an NTSC player the picture will be black & white and sometimes distorted.

I don't know what the encode is since i didn't encode it, my friend sent it to me but i dunno which encode he used. Maybe it is PAL, is there anyway to convert my DVD player to play PAL Pioneer DV-343 or the dvd itself?

It's called DVD Hacks over there:
<---
And a simple search for Pioneer 343 came up with this:

Thanks but i already tried that hack before i posted this thread. It didn't work. I can do up to step 6 but whenever i press condition memory and then numbers on the remote nothing happens, it says its suppose to change regions but nothing happens for me.

The more expensive (or "Brand Name") the DVD player is...all the more difficult it is to hack I'm afraid. Happens quite often.

Sounds like a PAL encoded DVD.
They always play Black and White on region free non-PAL players and will play correctly on all Computer DVD-Drives (cuz Computers are not PAL/NTSC/SECAM/M-PAL etc)
Pioneers Sucks especially the changers. -

Nope. See the "TV SYSTEM" setting? See how it's PAL?
Without a PAL DVD player, you're pretty much SOL.
You could re-rip it to your hard disk, convert the movie only (no menus or extras) to PAL, and then re-burn it.
Or try that DVD Player hack again.

Did you check the video connections between your tv and dvd player it could be that if you are using an s-video input cable make sure all connections are firmly in place because this happened to me once when I was changing a cable for my reciever so check your wiring and if the cable is not firmly in place you will see a black and white picture..

Unfortunately, I don't think you understand "PAL". Search through the guides and FAQ's over on the left side.
Your DVD is PAL. You Player is NTSC. Your computer can play it and your Pioneer (NTSC) cannot.
Thats about it.
To sum it up: Your DVD Player is not compatible with PAL DVDs. It's a common problem people in the U.S/Canada have when they get movies from Europe. -
your dvd player can play pal movies in the menu the tv setting should be on auto/also has pal/ntsc setting its your tv that cant play pal ok it might be a old tv you need a pal/ntsc capable tv ok bye
