Diff: Sony DRU-700a and LiteOn 832s ?

What is the difference between the Sony DRU-700a and the LiteOn SOHW-832s.

I have seen postings that the Sony is the LiteOn, just put in a Sony package and an adjusted Firmware.

Any reason why I should not return the Sony DRU-700a (which was $199 plus tax), and get the LiteOn SOHW-832s ($99, and $4 for shipping ?)

Difference between LiteOn and Sony?

You basically pay a ton of extra $ for the pretty Sony logo and brand name, the pretty Sony bezel, and the crippled (e.g., bitsetting removed) Sony firmware.

They have the same hardware, same components, etc.

As you can see, the choice is obvious. I'd return the 700A and get the 832S. Especially with a price difference like that!

This isn't anything new; it's always been like this for LiteOn drives rebranded as Sony, like their CD-RW drives, etc.

whay would you pay more ? for something less.....
