  1. I recently had to reformat my HD and had to reinstall all programs etc...

I have captured some VHS tapes to AVI and rendered to MPEG2 and when I went to burn them to DVD in DVDit!, the following message appeared:

"data rate of this file is too high for DVD, you must replace the file with one of a lower data rate"

It may sound like a stupid question, but I have no idea how to remedy this, am I still able to use these MPEGs?
How do i change my settings etc...

    Any help would be appreciated!

Exactly how did you do this, what tools did you use with what settings etc.

For DVD an mpeg must be less than 9.8Mbit/s.

  4. DVDit is probably only looking at the header info which is often set to the max allowable and also often incorrectly interpreted. You could try using dvdpatcher to change the info in the mpeg header.

  5. Thanks for all of your help Bugster, but I feel like an idiot.
when reformatting the HD all of the setting went awry, the data rate had defaulted to 15MB/s, have reset it
    sometimes it's the simplest thing!
    Thanks
