As I stated in another post, I have been trying several authoring programs. After working with DVD-Lab Pro I have gotten to like it pretty well.

I have one problem, though. I can't seem to add audio to menus. All my MP3 files won't work. I tried reading through the DVD-Lab help, but no cigar. When I loaded a movie clip it was demuxed and both audio and video files loaded fine. Just adding MP3 files doesn't work for me.

    Can anyone help?

    Also,

When I am previewing a movie clip loaded in the timeline I hear no audio. It seems to work OK when rendered, just can't hear it during the preview window. Is this normal?

What is a VMG Menu? Is this the "first play" clip we see in many authoring programs?

  2. hello!

DVD lab Pro (DLP) can only accept AC3, PCM, MP2 audio.

DLP does not allow you to preview audio with video.

VMG menu is a language unit (LU) that resides in VMG domain. Internal to a DVD, there are several 'vitural' domains that perform specific tasks.

I'm going to point to this WEB site for you to begin the interesting journey of DVD architecture and authoring:

  3. I also have DVD-LAB and always place a music track within the menu, usually the title soundtrack. To do this you MUST convert the mp3 track into mp2 format with 48K frequency. You can use any audio convertor BESWEET etc.. I am sure you can find one.

Once converted simply add MUSIC, and drag into menu screen.

    Hope this helps.

The easiest thing to do is get you hands on a copy of WinAmp (pre 3.0 version). The earlier versions of WinAmp contains an output option called Diskwriter found under Options -> Preferences -> Plug-ins -> Output. Diskwriter writes the output to your hard drive as a WAV file and you have the option to convert it to 48KHz (acceptable to DVD-Lab Pro and other authoring program).

The cool thing about it is that it can convert any file that WinAmp can play and if you have to convert multiple files, just open them all at the same time. Conversion happens really fast too!

This method works really well - better and faster than a lot of the other stand alone converters. Give it a try - you'll like it.

I have v. 2.95 and have otuputted the wav files. i got an error message that said something of a file mismatch. Is this due to these being wav files and the audio file that was out from the demuxing of the movie clip?

In the Diskwriter configuration, make sure you check the box that says "Convert to format:" and then click the button with the "..." and select

    Format: PCM
    Attributes: 48.000kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo, 187 kb/sec

That should work just fine. I have version 2.80, but it shouldn't really matter if you're using 2.95 - it's the same.
