  1. Hmmm... this occurs enough of the time that it's annoying the poops out of me... especially when it takes so damn long to encode.

My scenario: occurance probability about 50%
amd 1.3ghz, 256 ram, 64mb vram geforce2, 100gb wd/ide, win2k. Nothing running except for tmpgenc (I even rebooted the computer). No special settings, just vcd template ntsc movie @ 23fps ('cause I used force film in dvd2avi)

Any foresight or comments would be appreciated... Thx!

  2. Comment only....this is not help...but did you change any of the priorities in the enviromental settings for vfapi or cpu settings?...if you did not change anything from original setting then I am clueless. I dont have any problem with tempgnc, but I have not changed anything either, and my system is a lot older and slower than yours.

No, just normal priority. My system doesn't crash. TMPGEnc just reports an out of memory error. It's weird. Maybe I can allocatte a higher priority to tmpge since my system is stable?? I'll probably try that next...

here's a long shot, how big is your system pagefile? i've only seen that "out of memory" message on my machine with TMPGEnc twice this one particular day when trying to "Join" two 800MB mpegs. having 256mb ram, and a 512MB fixed sized pagefile, i re-configured the pagefile to 1GB and was able to complete the join and haven't seen that "out of memory" message again.

  5. are you doing this in the adv - sys prop - perf opti ? I'm changing mine to 1gb to see if that will prevent the memory errors... thanks for the idea... will report back!

  7. Yeap -- the memory paging increase worked!!!! No more out of memory errors. I've set it at min 500 and max 1500mb. Crazy but it works great! I've also set my priority level to high instead of normal. Thanks for the ideas!
