I have a DVD+-Drive coming in on thursday from newegg, but I also have a job interview that day. Talk about luck. To top it off, the UPS truck usually comes around my street at 3pm...the same time my interview starts. What would happen if I left the package outside in the heat? Would it still work when I come back (hopefully the interview ends within an hour)? Its going to be about 85 degrees (F).

Just a side note: UPS, if your not home when they ship, the usually wrap your package in a plastic bag, just in case it rains.

Personally, I'd be more worried about someone taking it. Prolonged exposure to heat could do damage. Unless the heat is extreme, I don't think even a few hours are going to do anything at all to it.

You could leave a note on the door telling the delivery guy to redeliver the next day or to leave it with a neighbor, if you are that worried.
