I have a problem with my dvd burner. Every time I put a dvd r or dvd-rw in my drive it starts to write to the disc. When I check disc properties it tells me I have a 1.99gig disc, not 4.7gig as it is supposed to be. It doesn't happen with cd r discs. I have tried adware and still no good. The file that is writing to the dvd is an audio file but will not play. I hope someone could please help as I don't really want to reload my computer to see if that is the problem.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Check your running processes to see if anything jumps out at you.
Ctrl-Alt-Delete / Task Manager / Processes -- You can also compare these to processes listings on the internet... search google for process exe's.
Sounds like something bad has happened.... you may have to reformat and reinstall OS (sometimes this is a good yearly thing to do) -
Which program, if any, is doing the writing?
Have you disabled the CD writing option if you are using XP?
