Hi Guys, me again.
Recently I have been having problems with recorded streams from my Hauppauge Nova T USB. The mpegs "seem" to play OK with media player, but I cannot run them through Pvastrumento to either demux or create program stream for authoring to DVD. Are these mpegs useless or can they be rescued?
Anyone any ideas. Irritating if you can't rely on the program streams. Couldn't create a DVD of Shooting Fish recently. The mpeg just crashed (not responding) when trying to either demux or ps. Has happened with others too.
Cheers

my initial guess would be a transmission error in the stream
Think shooting fish was on the beeb, try capping a short section again and running it. if it works it's probably transmission error, if not perhaps they've amended the sream types in some way. -
Cheers.
Anyone know any ways of getting round transmission errors, as since Top Up TV has started I notice more errors on Ch5 in UK on CSI and CSI Miami. These both used to be superb on terrestrial digital. Now picture and sound great but I am seeing/hearing more "glitches" which I assume would be very difficult to cope with on a capture. Looks like a standalone DVD recorder would have to be the order of the day.

well i use a Humax PVR-800t, it's a freeview PVR with 40gb HDD. i record my progs onto the hdd, then play them back and capture through my ADVC-50 into DV format. this works for me - the humax copes with signal errors very well and the dvd's i produce are indistinguisible from the original recording.

Does that box require an external aerial? or does it suffice to have an indoor aerial? I am awaiting the release of the 9000T (twin tuners)

Try VideoReDo as this seems to work quite well with DVB streams. It's not free but there is a fully functioning trial version on their website.
Is it possible that some settings in PVAStrumento have changed rather than the Nova-t? I usually have to change settings in PVAStrumento for different streams - some settings work fine on some files but cause A/V sync issues.
I don't think that Hauppauge have changed their MPEG writer, but ShowShifter DVB does it a different way - it appears to automatically skip errors whereas Hauppauge save everything intact. I find that the Hauppauge software creates more compatible files.
