I got a DVD of a concert that someone sent me.. its got this really cheesy menu on it... i know how to rip stuff to my PC and stuff.. but here is what i want.. i want to be able to rip the DVD to my hard drive.. and then get rid of that cheesy menu that was on there before and put my own in place using something like ULEADS Movie Factory or something...

so what is the best way to go about this.. and if there is another menu makin program that you can recommend, i would greatly appreciate it..

    thanks!!

just open the DVD in TMPGEnc DVD Author and create a new menu.
the chapter points will already be there, so it should be very easy.

thanks for all ya input so far.. its really helpin.. i am using tmpgenc dvd author since that seems to get the best reviews and its working out pretty well.. but when makin the new menu.. what if i wanted to use a image. now if someone puts that on a big screen or bigger than a TV i have or what not.. aint the image or text on the image gonna be pixelized to where its blurry?? or would i really have to make sure i am using a high DPI image

  7. Or just simply use Movie Factory's "edit disc" option .... works great for me when making menus for my standalone recorder's crappy text menus.

My only disappointment is the it seems like most, if not all standalone recorders use's AC3 audio .. which of course unfortunately MF has to re-encode.

ok.. i try that...any suggestions about my imaging questions? i can make some kickass images with Photoshop or PSP.. but someone viewing them on a larger TV the image and/text on the image would be blurry wouldnt.. almost like digital zooming.. ya loose quality

u will lose picture quality cause the highest resolution u'll get is 720 x 576. so u'll have to shrink them down. using the bicubic resampling in ps should shrink it without warping the image too much

yeah... making menus is pretty easy.. i go to movie websites and download the wallpapers, then use those as the backgrounds for the menus.. comes out pretty good
