  1. The dvds of an old tv series I bought off of Ebay will play fine for about 5/8 of the way through the episodes on the dvd but at that point begin to turn into little blockson the screen which eventually shut down my dvd. Any advice on what this is?

I don't have any experience recording dvds but still need a little help. I searched the forums but still have no clue and appreciate any help.

It helps to fill out your computer profile. I'm guessing these are commercial DVDs? I'm guessing you are playing them on your computer? If so, do they play on a settop player? The symptoms you describe are like a incorrectly burned or a scratched DVD that your player can barely read and at some point gives up on.

  3. if there originals,it may be that there scratched or damaged in some way, meaning that theres little chance of repairing them to the extent that they would be when they were first manifactured.
if they are copies, then you got bumped when you bought them, and you might try a cd/dvd repair kit,and see if that helps.

  4. These are what I thought were commercial originals but now suspect are copies. I am playing them on my regular DVD player. I will try the repair kit, if someone can tell me what that is and where to get it.

    Thank you!

You could try ripping and re-burning a new copy with your PC, assuming you have a DVD writer. Your problems resemble bad media.

When I read the title of this thread, it conjured up images of a DVD case up on cinderblocks with the disc stolen I glad that there's no "DVD Jacking" going on

Are these on DVDRs? Do they have purple bottoms or silver bottoms. If these are DVDRs, I would suspect a bad burn on shitty media that craps out towards the end. There may be nothing you can do as the information might just not be there. In which case not only is the guy who sold it to pirating these but also doing a very bad job and ripping you off.
