I wasn't sure where this question fit exactly so I'm using this thread. I'm wondering if anyone here does peer-to-peer downloading of video files? I just started exploring this and some of these engines look mighty confusing. If your familiar with p2p and care to answer a few ?s I'd appreciate it greatly.
Thanks in advance.

I've found that 90% of all AVIs DL'ed using KaZaA are crap (bad frames, impossible/hard to convert to other format). If you find P2P in general "mighty confusing", you have some way to go, as the world of computer video is much more of a challenge...

And these guys avocating the use of P2P programs are not banned or yellow carded WHY?
It seems you were issued a yellow card in error. It has
been removed. Apologies,

its a fine line that has not been crossed yet.
video files does not denote illegal activity. If the tile of this were questions aout peer-to-peer downloading of Movies then it would be a different story...... yellow card to the author and locked
please look to the AUP if you have furhter questions feel free to point posts out to the various mods and they will decide.

i don't understand this attitude toward p2p discussions. saying someone downloaded a movie doesn't automatically indicate illegal activity anymore than other topics like copying dvds or capturing vhs. there are movies that could be legally downloaded and what if the person owned a copy of the movie and for some unfathomable reason decided to download it, wouldn't that fall under fair use or if they downloaded a tv series episode they missed, wouldn't that just be time shifting, as long as they don't keep it.

But if the head honcho clears them as OK, who am I to question ?If in doubt, Google it.

isn't the law the reason for the rule so if you're not breaking the law how can you be breaking the rule. warning someone just for saying they downloaded a movie seems like an overreaction as well as a misinterpretation of the rules since there obviously are occasions where it could be a legal download and maybe times when downloading would fall under fair use.
