  1. ok heres the lowdown i want to transfer my hi8 footage to my pc with mimimun resolution loss,and then to dvdr. I have a sony ccd trv208 specs , the only connections the camera has is s-com and then video and audio ot

    all im after is the best advice for a capture card, i dont want to spend a fortune as i cannot afford it and i dont want to buy a new camera.My pc also doent support usb 2.0. What will be the best option to by asus,aver or murcuy capture card, please dont get technical cos i just dont get it so please keep it plain and simple, cheers people!!

  2. 50 dollars gets you a avertv media mono or stereo card.

    i personally have capped 720x480 from this and i can never tell the difference from the original.

    you can cap in mpeg2 or you can cap and then encode with tmpgenc

    its a good 50 dollar option

    before that i had ati tv wonder i think , its there cheap one.
    but although it captured nice (using wintv) i constantly had to be messing with settings etc.

    so far for the under a 100 bux capture my vote is for avertv on ebay or elsewhere
    i cap with windvd now full res 720x480 but even half res is very nice and you can get over 3 hours on a dvd!
