    First, here's my setup..
    Amd Athlon 1.53ghz
    512mb ddr ram
    80 gig 7200rpm hd
    nvidia tnt2 64meg video card
    Running XP

I want to capture video from both vcr and tv. Should I just buy a tv tuner card or go with something like the all in wonder? I have the all in wonder pro 8mb pci, but it doesn't work well under xp. I have also tried the Dazzle USB and WinTV USB but wasn't satisfied with the quality.

I recommend the ATI TV Wonder or TV Wonder VE.

The first one is about $90 and the VE is $50 due to the lack of a Svideo jack. It does have RF and RCA jacks though for TV & video input which would take care of your needs.

I have the TV Wonder VE and I am pretty damn satisfied with the quality of the hardware & software for the price!

It should run great on your system too.
It works just fine on mine and I'm running XP on
    1Gig Tbird
    384 MB PC133
    61 Gig 7200 Maxtor
    Voodoo3 3000 16MB TVout....

All my hardware is a step down from yours and I haven't had any problems. It runs great under XP too.

Thanks for the input. I think I'll probobly go with the VE, because nothing I have has the s-video anyway.

  4. If you have the money, you should go for the card with the S-Video. You may not need it now, but it gives you future expansion. S-Video gives better video than plain composite.

I guess you're right. I will probably go ahead and get the upgraded one. I mainly just want to transfer home movies to VCD.
