I was hoping someone could help me.
I have a liteon 411s (flashed with the FS0J firmware)dvd burner in an external enclosure connected to a usb 2.0 notebook card. I always use DVD shrink and Nero to back up movies and never had a problem until I recently reinstalled windows on my laptop.
Now, I can rip the movies onto my hard drive, but when I try to burn the files I get an "error reading data" message. It always stops at a specific point for each movie. It can burn CD's perfectly and copy dvd+r's directly to another disk perfectly at full speed.
I tried using Alcohol 120 and it said the error was a cyclic redundancy check which is normally what I get when a disk is dirty or scratched and it cant be read. I'm not sure how this can happen when burning files directly from the hard drive but I suspect it has something to do with memory or IDE controllers or ASPI since I have gotten the same results with different media and different burning programs.
